Molding Description



For PPS machining key :
  • PPS can use most screw type injection molding machine to do the machining.
  • For the glass fiber reinforced garde PPS, its injection molding machine screw and material hopper and mold made material should be made with wear-resistant material in order to protect the machine and the mold not to wear off rapidly.
PPS typical injection molding condition required is showed as follows.
  •   Drying temperature : 120~140 degree C
  •   Drying time :  2~6 hours
  •   Material hopper temperature : 300-340
  •   Screw nozzle temperature : 300-340 degree C
  •   Mold temperature :  120-150 degree C
  •   Injection speed: high speed
  •   Injection pressure : high pressure MPa
  •   Holding pressure : 50MPa
  •   Back pressure : 1-4 till Pa
  •   Screw turning speed : low speed to middle speed
PPS mold and molding important operation points:
  •  For most application, 300-340 degree C injection temperature should be suitable.  Mold temperature influences really big on PPS parts crystallinity.  PPS is a Semi-crystalline polymer.   For better physical properties, the mold temperature must be at least with 120 ° C.
  • The more appropriate mold temperature range will be around 130-150 degree C.  If using low mold temperature, one should avoid low mold temperature around 80-100 degree C.. , under such low mold temperature, it could decrease the mold ejection condition.
    - PPS crystallization or curing rate is fast, the injection speed should be adjusted
       fast (high speed) in order to avoid the finished product is not uniform or poor
       surface quality.    A suitable filling time may be set at 0.5 to 1.5 seconds.  As
       the injection speed is with high-speed, high injection pressure is often required.
       The holding pressure can be set to 50 MPa or higher. 
    -  Screw speed should not be too high, so as not to damage the glass fiber.  
        Screw speed can be set to low to medium speed.  Back pressure should be low,
        the appropriate back pressure of 1-4 MPa.   
  • Interrupt or end the processing operation, the machine can the cleaning material to purify the PPS (purging) on machine.  A suitable cleaning material is high molecular weight polyethylene.

In addition, CNC milled prototype, 3D printing prototype, prototype mold making service, fixture / jig making or welding horn design and making are available in Intertech with good experience !

For mold making:

  When making mold project, per customer’s requirement for mold steel material, we choose the suitable mold steel grade for our customers.  We have high quality German and Japan imports mold steel material to proceed our mold project making. Then, the gating way will be discussed, the mold surface will be discussed, the mold cooling channel design will be checked, the operation style will be discussed, the molding machine size will be determined and the mold mechanism in actual production movement will all be checked as well.  Only after our mold engineers discussing with our customers for the mold engineering in detail, we will proceed with our mold making job.
